Welcome from the Chief Executive About Us

Chief Executive Officer Katie MorganHamilton College is part of me, it is in my blood – I have been a pupil, a parent, a Governor, Chair of the Board, a member of the Senior Leadership Team, and now as CEO, I am working with the whole school community to lead the School to new heights.

My first experience of Hamilton College was as a 10-year-old pupil on the school’s very first day of opening in 1983, a school that had been founded to promote the Christian faith through excellence in education.

As a pupil, the school provided me with a firm educational foundation and a belief in my capabilities.  At that time, excellence in education was delivered through strict and robust teaching. I learned through resilience how to build self-confidence and to be true to your beliefs and principles.

As a parent of two daughters who have attended the school from J1, I have experienced the school from a very different angle.  During this time, my view of what creates that excellence in education has altered significantly from one of pure academic success to one of the holistic development of a child’s character, harnessing their capabilities and allowing them to blossom as individuals wherever their strengths lie.

As a Governor and eventually, Chair of the Board, I gained insight to strategic school development, long-term planning and the myriad of skills, experiences and resources that are essential to the delivery of today’s excellence in education. Key to this role was a firm understanding of the economic, market and political challenges that shape our market and how the school must adapt to face these head-on.

Latterly, as a member of the Senior Leadership Team, I worked and continue to work with a hugely committed staff group. On a daily basis I have seen the dedication that is required to create a stimulating, innovative environment in which the pupils are supported and encouraged not only to excel academically but to build values and faith within themselves which will serve them throughout their young and adult lives. That is today’s excellence in education.

I fundamentally believe in Hamilton College, why it exists and its reason for being. I believe in an organisation that is focussed on the individual child, has a deep-rooted Christian foundation and that is working today to provide tomorrow’s excellence in education.

My remit as CEO is to effect significant change within Hamilton College, developing, agreeing and implementing a business and organisational plan to meet the needs of our strategic vision and to establish the foundations for the school to meet its aims and ambitions over the horizon of the next 5-10 years.

The first step in this has been a review of our Vision and Purpose, an exercise which not only looked at how we continue to deliver an excellence in education that will be relevant in tomorrow’s world while ensuring each pupils’ needs are met, but also drew on the experiences and expectations of staff, pupils and parents.

Our Purpose is to be a centre of excellence in education, where children are encouraged to develop their own unique pathways preparing them for life and work and to excel in a changing future.  This is what we aspire to achieve in all that we do today and every day.

Our Vision is that by inspiring children, together we can change their future, shape society and make an impact on our world.  This is what we journey towards as a school, as an organisation and as a charity.

Along with our core Values of Grace / Compassion / Reflection / Confidence / Wisdom / Innovation and our Faith Foundation “...to grow in the Grace and Knowledge of our Saviour and Lord, Jesus Christ...”, our Vision and Purpose will guide us towards the future of excellence in education.

This is where we, as a school community, are headed. We are creating an outstanding school for our pupils; we are continuing to develop Hamilton College as centre of excellence in education and ultimately in creating a truly inspiring educational environment for all.

Yours sincerely,

Katie Morton
