Dining Hall

The entire school community is committed to promoting health and well-being and believes that it is extremely important for our young people and staff to develop and maintain healthy lifestyles.

In June 2008 this commitment was acknowledged when external verification by NHS Lanarkshire led to our Gold Award as a Health Promoting School. This is a remarkable achievement within two years of beginning the programme.

Since that date, the school has continued to develop its HPS status, with the publication of the Curriculum for Excellence Health and Wellbeing Experiences and Outcomes in 2010 giving an added impetus to this aspect of the life of the school. Indeed, a recent audit of Health and Wellbeing across the curriculum in Senior School highlighted that Hamilton College offers excellent provision for the emotional, physical, intellectual, and spiritual nourishment of our children and pupils.

The HPS Steering Group met bi-annually up until December 2012, when the final points of its last three-year action plan were completed. The work of the Steering Group has now been overtaken by the CfE Health and Wellbeing Experiences and Outcomes which we will continue to audit regularly.
