Hamilton College is a second home to me therefore it was an honour and a privilege when I was offered the opportunity to serve as the Head Girl for 2013/14. It is a memory that I shall treasure forever.

Lifekills

Our PSE programme is embedded within Kindergarten, Nursery and Junior School. Within the Senior School each year group is timetabled for 1 period a week. A range of topics are covered across the year groups and include –

Anti-Bullying, Cyber-bullying, Internet Safety, Sex Education, Health Education, Stress, Mental Health, Smoking, Drugs, Alcohol, Study Skills, Careers, Options, Working As Part Of A Team, Financial Education, Work Experience, Citizenship , Discrimination (including Sectarianism) and Racism.

We also include many outside speakers in the upper school (S5/6), bringing a diverse and experienced insight to many other topics –

UCAS, SAAS, CV’s and Interviews, Napier University, Strathclyde University, Racism, Blood Transfusion Service, Organ Donation (Transplant Co-ordinators), Freedom School of Motoring, Heartstart, Teenage Cancer Trust, Cancer Research, Disability, Alcoholics Anonymous, White Ribbon Charity (Domestic Abuse), Stress, Positive Steps (Sex Education) and when possible Strathclyde Fire and Rescue Service.

Upon leaving school we hope to have equipped the pupils to become active contributors and responsible citizens, able to leave their mark, in a positive way, on the world around them.
