From speaking and dealing with countless new people, from pupils in committees at school, to guests and visitors, I feel more confident in meeting new people. Also, having to take five assemblies at school developed my public speaking skills.

Modern Languages & Classics

Bonjour! Hallo! Salve!

Welcome to the Modern Languages and Classics department.

In the Senior School, pupils have the opportunity to learn French, German and Latin at all levels (S1 & S2, Standard Grade, Higher and Advanced Higher).  Classical Studies is offered in the Upper School at Higher and Advanced Higher, as a non-language based study of ancient cultures. We promote active learning and over recent years have run very successful trips to France, Germany and Italy as well as trips within the UK to museums, theatres and archaeological sites.
