I am now at Glasgow University studying Law with French. Hamilton College has provided me with many skills that I have taken forward into the next stage of my life.

Advanced Higher Technological Studies

Topics Taught
The course consists of 4 mandatory units:

  • Applied electronics
  • Systems & Control
  • Structures & Materials
  • Project Enquiry

Homework
Like any other Advanced Higher subject, self study is an important part of the course. However, ink exercises will be issued on a regular basis in order to monitor the progress of pupils.

Assessments (Internal and External)
Like Higher, every unit is internally assessed by sitting National Assessment Bank (NAB) assessments. Pupils must pass each unit before sitting the final external exam. This exam determines the grade awarded to the pupil for the course

Next Steps
Advanced Higher offers an excellent grounding for pupils who move on to study any technology related career or degree course. It is particularly relevant to engineering courses, product design, building design & management and courses such as prosthetics and orthotics.
