I started at Hamilton College in 2001 in S2. I found the teachers very encouraging, helpful and always willing to make time for me. I have fond memories of my time at Hamilton College and I met some of my closest friends there.

Admissions

Welcome from the Admissions Team

At Hamilton College, we pride ourselves on our personable and friendly approach. Choosing a school is a major decision, and we understand and appreciate the variety of things families are looking for. Before considering the school, you may wish to find out more from the website and our prospectus. Please click here to view a copy of our Online Prospectus or request a hard copy by post.

Our Admissions Team enjoy helping prospective families with any enquiries you may have. We provide a bespoke service so that you can find out about the aspects of the school that matter to you. Families are warmly welcomed throughout the year. The best way to get a feel for our first-rate pastoral care, academic excellence, and broad variety of activities, is to come and see it for yourself.

Tailored Tours

We will arrange a tour at a time that suits you and your family. To get a realistic feel for the school, we always recommend coming during term-time. If your son or daughter is interested in sports, music, or certain subjects, we can ensure that you have a flavour of these aspects and meet key staff during your tour.

Tours are usually led by one of our Vice-Principals or the Head of Junior School, and include our Nursery, Junior School and Senior School, seeing our excellent classrooms, science labs, library, dining hall, and sports facilities including our 25m heated swimming pool and all-weather pitch.

You will be welcomed by the Principal, Mr Taylor, and have an opportunity to talk to staff and pupils about their experience of education at Hamilton College.

Taster Days

Prospective pupils need to feel comfortable when choosing a new school. The best way to achieve this is for girls and boys to come for a Taster Day. They will be paired with a pupil in their year group, and shadow their lessons and activities for the day. Let us know any of interests or hobbies, so that we can make sure your son or daughter has a chance to sample some of our activities.

Open Days

Open Days are an excellent opportunity to see the school at its best, to sample great lessons and fulfilling activities, to talk to current pupils, staff and parents about the school, and to ask any questions you may have.

Our Open Day is in October, and we have various events, concerts, and sporting events throughout the year, which you are always welcome to attend. Check the Events page to see what’s happening soon.

Assessment

Most pupils join us at Nursery, Junior 1 and Senior 1, but we welcome pupils throughout their school careers.

Our Assessments are designed to recognise pupils’ abilities and strengths, and are used in conjunction with reports from pupils’ current schools. Depending on the time of year and parent preference, we can invite pupils in ‘ad hoc’ for Assessments, or to join our Assessment mornings held in January. Throughout the process, we keep parents fully informed of developments in the entry procedures.

Fees and Bursaries

Our fees are highly competitive and we have part-funded and fully-funded bursaries available. For full details of our fees and bursaries, please click here.

Enrolment

It only costs a £30 admin fee to register your son or daughter’s place at Hamilton College. All you need to do is to fill out a short form. The enrolment card is available by contacting the Admissions Team who will send one out to you.

Questions and Queries

At any point in the process, feel free to ask the Admissions Team (admissions@hamiltoncollege.co.uk) or the Principal (principal@hamiltoncollege.co.uk) any questions you may have. No thought or question is too small, too silly, or too irrelevant. This is a major decision in your child’s life, and we know you need to get it right for them.
