Duke of Edinburgh Senior School

Hamilton College also offers the Duke of Edinburgh Award. Participation levels have been tremendous and we now offer the programme at Bronze in S3, at Silver in S4, and Gold in S5 and S6.

Staff and pupils bring a wealth of assistance and enthusiasm to the development of the Award, which provides participants with excellent personal development opportunities that fit well with our school ethos.

At all levels, pupils plan a personalised programme which covers sections in volunteering, physical and skills, allowing them to develop their minds and bodies while also making a valuable contribution to the school or local community. In session 2019 to 2020, DofE participants at Hamilton College completed 824 hours of developing a skill, 824 hours of physical activity and 943 hours of volunteering in their local community. The social value of these hours was calculated to be £4102.05.

The expedition section of our DofE award is delivered by our Approved Activity Provider, Outlook Adventures Scotland, who provide an extensive training programme at bronze level as well as a range of challenging but enjoyable expeditions at all levels.

It is often said that the DofE awards encourages pupils to develop their mind, body and soul, and it is a delight to watch our young people grow in confidence and experience through their commitment to the award.

For further information on the Award please view the Duke of Edinburgh website.
