The Role
Approximately 10 hours per week, depending upon fixtures.
Starting August 2024.
Hamilton College seeks to employ a qualified and experienced netball coach to support the delivery of netball during Sport lessons and coach in expanding co-curricular programme. The ideal candidate will be dedicated to improving the learning and education for learners in both junior and senior school. This will be a sessional role and will also require the successful candidate to coach fixtures and umpire matches. The ability and/or experience to coach another of our main sports: Cross Country, Swimming, Basketball or Athletics would be beneficial.
Duties
· To lead sessions and assist others to deliver netball to all learners with varying abilities, ranging from complete beginners to those who have been recognised a district level.
· To be responsible for teams and supporting their technical and tactical development.
· To support the learning and development of other teachers and coaches who deliver netball
· To ensure an up-to-date knowledge of learners needs and to support these accordingly
· To track and monitor learners' progress and produce concise written reports
· To work alongside the Director of Sport to support the development of netball
· To contribute and take part in appropriate departmental meetings and whole school meetings
· To assist in the development of friendly and competitive fixtures.
· To work alongside the Director of Sport, and Marketing Department to promote sports events, taster days and open days.
· A willingness to contribute to other areas within Physical Education and Sport when required.
Person Specification
· Be confident to coach and umpire both junior and senior teams.
· Possessing up to date qualifications and having experience of netball specific laws and regulations at all ages, a UKCC Level 2 coaching certificate and C Award Umpire is desirable.
· Be a role model for Hamilton College netballers by being enthusiastic, highly motivated, and organised.
· Confident, proactive with a helpful and flexible approach.
· Ability to build excellent working relationships, work as part of a team and alone, with minimum supervision, maintaining a professional and enthusiastic approach.
· Ability to communicate effectively with all colleagues.
