It gives me great pleasure to invite you to join with us to celebrate our fortieth anniversary here at Hamilton College.
Since my appointment to the position of Headteacher in July 2021, I have thoroughly enjoyed meeting former pupils of Hamilton College and listening to the precious memories of their time at School. Moreover, the experiences and stories that our current learners share with us about their time at Hamilton College endorse the foundation of the School and the very special community that is and will always be close to our hearts. We are very much looking forward to bringing our community together to celebrate our School.
Please find enclosed our renewed ‘Vision and Purpose 2022-25’ booklet and ‘Celebrating 40 Years’ literature which highlights our foundation, our Vision and Purpose, celebratory events and how we aim to improve the opportunities for our learners at School. We also wish to engage with our community to friend-raise and bring our alumni back to the College as we continue to welcome and support second generation pupils. We will be in touch with our entire network in order that those who hold Hamilton College dear to them will get together to celebrate.
Our events will showcase the very best of Hamilton College. Swimmers of all abilities will be invited to take part in our sponsored 40-hour Swimathon in our pool in February and our musical and artistic learners’ talents will be on display in our Art Exhibition and Music Concert in January and May respectively. I have been overwhelmed at the number of teacher volunteers who have requested to be part of the celebrations by organising these events to bring the community together.
One event I ask that you ‘Save the Date’ for is our Hamilton College Anniversary Gala Dinner to be held at the Hilton Glasgow on Saturday 17 June 2023. This evening will be filled with laughter, good food, dancing and top-quality entertainment and will be the ideal occasion for many Hamilton College reunions. Keep an eye on your emails and our social media accounts for full details and ticket information.
As part of our celebrations, we do aim to raise funds to improve the facilities of Hamilton College and develop the opportunities for our learners. As we progress our celebrations in 2023, I will share how the community can donate prizes for various auctions and secure naming rights as part of the development of our Science Laboratories, Changing Facilities and Outdoor Courts.
We have also commissioned several items of memorabilia as a keepsake of our fortieth year. The wide range of items can be found on the back page of the brochure, there is something for everyone and will be delivered in time for Christmas!
